Create a City

Posted by NYTM Education Team in lesson ideasannouncement

This guest blog post was written by Ms. S. of New York City:
The preschool, kindergarten, and first grade classes from our school recently visited the New York Transit Museum as part of our inter-disciplinary study on transportation in the city. I found the idea for "create a city" on the museum's teacher website. The students enjoyed "constructing" their own metropolis, and better yet, enjoyed the interactive play once it was all finished!

Subway Collages

Posted by NYTM Education Team in Untagged

This guest blog post was written by Mrs. Botz of Happy Corner Preschool:
While visiting the Transit Museum, my students enjoyed seeing the special collage exhibit on display. Back in the classroom, they created their own subway collages using various types of paper. We even wrote a class letter and sent some of our collages to the artist, Chris Pellietere, who wrote back to us! What a fun project.
